Roane County Community Heart Walk
Join us August 21st for the Roane County Heart Walk presented by Roane General Hospital. The event kicks off at 8am at the Heritage Park Community Building.
A fun day is planned for the entire family with inflatables, games, fun and information.
There will be a Community Band organizational meeting for the new year on Sunday, August 22 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Advent Christian Church on Steele Hollow Road. Please spread the word to those who you think might be interested. If you play an instrument we want you!

Black Walnut Geotrail and Kick Off Event
A new geotrail, the Black Walnut Geotrail , has been established in our community and to celebrate a kick off event will be held September 4th.
September 4, 2010 will be the official launch of the Black Walnut Geotrail. Festivities will begin at 10:00 am at Washington Park (see GC2CG1H). A short ceremony will be held then geocachers will be set loose to begin their 'Cannonball Run' to grab FTF's.
On Tuesday August 24-Thursday August 26th Barsh Opticians and Hearing Aid Center will be having an open house. Stop by and view their products and learn about new technology.
Barsh Opticians and Hearing Aid Center is a proud supporter of the West Virginia Black Walnut Festival. Help support those who help to provide our community with great events such as the Black Walnut Festival.
Safety Town Date Change
Due to the special election for the replacement for the late Senator Byrd, Safety Town will be moved to August 21 and will be from 10am to 2pm.
Safety Town's theme is "Be prepared not scared" and is an effort to help educate kids on what to do during an emergency situation. Bring the whole family out for a fun filled day brought to you by the Spencer-Roane Volunteer Fire Department.

Summer Concert
The City of Spencer will be hosting The Norris Brothers Band Friday August 20th in Downtown Spencer. This will be a free show that begins at 8pm. Bring your lawnchairs and your entire family to enjoy the concert.
